[silencing what cannot be revealed], a performance-based occupation of L\u2019\u00c9crin, L\u2019imprimerie\u2019s ever-changing storefront. For two months, Nicole has taken over this space, filled it with words, objects and above all, herself. She truly lent herself to this experiment by becoming a literal \u201cresident\u201d of the storefront. During the first weeks I was really invested in the project. I would physically be in L\u2019\u00c9crin\u2019s space, asking the question: \u201cWhat should be done next?\u201d Writing emerged naturally, both as something that comes from within and something that has been a part of my daily life for a very long time. Gradually, the wall began to fill with words and questions. I also started to gathering objects: a mirror, a bowl, a mask, a pillow, as well as small pieces of crumpled up paper that I sent flying around using a fan, to simulate a dark snow falling inside the space. Finally, I thought of hanging up a life-sized self-portrait that would become a surrogate for my presence, a stunt double \u2026 sort of a replacement that would take care of L\u2019\u00c9crin while I was away. Afterwards, whenever I would come back to L\u2019\u00c9crin, the question became \u201chow can I create a connection with what is already here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Performances<\/strong><br \/>\nTwo performance pieces lasting several hours each were also presented in the storefront on June 20 and July 11. During the first piece, I momentarily lost the notion of time and space, as if I was in a trance-like state. Still, a few interacted with me. Some waved, while others, the more enthusiastic ones, even brought their children to see me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The aftermath\u2014What do you think will remain of your time in L\u2019\u00c9crin after the next artist takes your place?<\/strong><br \/>\nA kind of emptiness, probably.
