A first Customized residency project

Andréanne Michon, the first artist to have submitted a Customized residency project at L’imprimerie, will be working with us throughout 2018 during four two-week stays at the centre, kicking off a new exhibition project presented in spring 2019, at SF Camerawork, in San Francisco.

Trained in photography at Concordia University and the San Francisco Art Institute, Andréanne works with large-scaled gelatin silver prints that undergo a hybrid process, combining analogue and digital techniques.

Her approach is focused on natural phenomena, particularly the creation-destruction cycle of cataclysmic events, and the quiet lulls between them. Through metaphor, she depicts what is partially visible, by recreating the marks, tremors and weathering effects left by these events.

During her last visit to L’imprimerie, Andréanne attended the Print like a Jedi class. This allowed her to familiarize herself with laser engraving, as well as spend countless hours experimenting in our studio. We look forward to seeing the evolution of her work.
