Maggy Flynn – T’es une pépite d’or
Since June 2023, L’Imprimerie has been hosting a cultural mediation project by Maggy Flynn.
T’es une pépite d’or
T’es une pépite d’or is a cultural outreach project led by artist Maggy Flynn. Developed over a two-year period, the project took shape through creative workshops offered in public spaces from her 1974 Grumman truck.
The project is carried out in partnership with various community organizations, including CRIC and Spectre de rue, notably through their TAPAJ program, which provides people experiencing severe social and financial precarity with economic support through short-term community engagement activities.
Through collage, screen printing, poster-making, and audio, T’es une pépite d’or seeks to amplify the voices and visibility of populations that are often marginalized. By using art as a tool for connection and encounter, the project highlights the voices, talents, and human richness of residents of the Centre-Sud and Hochelaga neighbourhoods.
The project is funded through the Montréal Cultural Development Agreement between the City of Montréal and the Government of Québec, and is supported by the Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto and L’imprimerie, centre d’artistes.
Maggy Flynn’s interdisciplinary practice is driven by a desire to disrupt everyday routines by creating unexpected encounters in people’s lives. Her projects encompass drawing, video, writing, performance art, participatory projects, and interventions in public space. Since 2008, her work has been presented as part of artistic events across Québec, including 3e impérial, L’imprimerie, Dare-Dare, L’Orchestre d’Hommes-orchestres, and Péristyle nomade, as well as in community-based contexts in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Centre-Sud neighbourhoods of Montréal, in Ontario, the United States, and Ireland. Her artistic journey also includes performances, collaborative projects, and group exhibitions.
