Sarah Toung Ondo – CUSTOM RESIDENCY

During the residency, I would like to work on developing a systematic approach to printing patterns on fabric, whether through screen printing or printmaking techniques. In a second phase, I would also like to undertake a community-engaged creative project with immigrant women to create textile patterns that explore themes related to money.

Sarah Toung Ondo

Of French and Gabonese heritage, Sarah Toung Ondo grew up between France and Gabon, an experience that has profoundly shaped her artistic practice. After studying design and art history, she pursued studies in social and historical anthropology, culminating in a Master’s degree from the University of Toulouse II. During her anthropological fieldwork, she discovered the artistic community of Québec (Nionwentsïo), decided to settle there, and later earned a diploma in textile construction from the Maison des métiers d’art de Québec.

A multidisciplinary artist, Sarah Toung Ondo enjoys working across a wide range of media, primarily textiles, photography, ready-mades, installation, and community-engaged art practices. This interest in diverse and hybrid forms allows her to explore the relationships between art, intimacy, and society through the lens of cultural métissage and cross-cultural exchange.

She is currently participating in the Habiter le MAC program.
