February Happy Hours

A discussion with artists Julie-Isabelle Laurin and Andréanne Michon

Wednesday February 20, starting at 5 p.m.

Join us this February for a special double-feature edition of the Happy Hours! Up next: the launch of Tâches inachevées: pièces pour théâtre magique by Julie-Isabelle Laurin and a presentation by artist Andréanne Michon, concluding her Customized residency project at L’imprimerie.

Julie-Isabelle Laurin is an Interdisciplinary artist whose nomadic approach leads her to occupy transitional and nascent spaces. Now, she turns the small architectural space of L’Écrin into a mysterious construction site, as a metaphor for her creation process. This magical theatre inspired by Hermann Hesse’s novel Steppenwolf, is a place “for madmen only”, where we can visit the many facets of our inner selves. In this sense, Laurin’s project within L’Écrin is a performative and sculptural exploration of the various fragments making up her artistic universe.

Andréanne Michon has just completed her four-part Customized residency project. Throughout the year, this residency gave the artist the opportunity to conduct several experiments within the studio in intermixing the conventions of the print and photography medium. Andréanne’s work is currently on display at the Bass & Reiner Gallery in San Francisco, and will the project she developed in L’imprimerie will be showcased shortly at SF Camerawork.
