Happy Hours of November

Meet the artists Maggy Flynn and Chuck Samuels

Wednesday, November 6 at 5 p.m.

Whether you are a member, an art lover or simply curious, you are all invited to this festive event!

In a relaxed atmosphere, Maggy Flynn and Chuck Samuels will present their current creative projects. The evening will be followed by a potluck cocktail, everyone brings a dish to share, if they wish and enjoys the double program. Children are welcome.

Maggy Flynn creates socio-artistic devices. Motivated by a desire to deflect routines of everyday life, to hijack people’s paths and to create improbable encounters without it being a question of social status or market relationship. Intertwining game and documentary process, her projects take shape through drawing, video, writing, action art, projects participatory and intervention in the public space.

Since 2008, she has carried out artistic actions in community and citizen contexts
(in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Centre-Sud neighbourhoods of Montreal, Ontario, United States, in France and Ireland), as well as in the context of artistic events in Quebec, with Dare-Dare, Skol, Les Escales Improbables, ATSA, L’orchestre d’hommes-orchestres and the Péristyle nomade. Her career also includes performances, collaborative projects and group exhibitions.

Chuck Samuels is a Montréal artist whose photographs and videos have been exhibited and published extensively in Québec, Canada, and abroad since 1980. He frequently photographs or films himself and his work tends to address memory, photography and cinema as subject matter. Samuels’ photographs are part of the collections of La Maison européenne de la photographie, Le Musée de la Photographie, the George Eastman Museum, the National Gallery of Canada, Le Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Worcester Art Museum and the Cinémathèque québécoise as well as many Canadian and foreign private collections.
