Imprimer maintenant – arts, écologies et communautés
Launch of the publication Imprimer maintenant – arts, écologies et communautés
L’imprimerie, centre d’artistes
Thursday, Octobre 30 2025
6 p.m. (doors open at 5:30 p.m.)
L’imprimerie, centre d’artistes enthusiastically invites you to the launch of Imprimer maintenant – arts, écologies et communautés (Printing Now – Arts, Ecology, and Communities), a collection of zines that affirms our commitment to eco-sensitive and socially responsible practices. This project opens up a space for collective reflection on artistic practice in the context of the climate emergency and on ways of imagining artistic production differently.
During the evening, Laurie Magnan and Geneviève Cadieux-Langlois will present the fruits of this editorial journey, enriched by the stories, experiences, and visions for the future shared by some of the key players in the organization’s transition: Claude Arseneault, Elmyna Bouchard, Carlos Calado, Leyla Majeri, and Geneviève Turcotte.
The printed publication will be offered primarily to member organizations of the Regroupement des centres d’artistes autogérés du Québec, collective studios, and our members. It is free and bilingual.
The event is free, wheelchair accessible, and children are welcome! Boldwin organic beers will be available for purchase. Card payment is preferred. For more information about the launch, please visit our Facebook event.
L’imprimerie, centre d’artistes is located on Tiohtiá:ke, Mooniyang territory, which has never been ceded. The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation is recognized as the custodian of the lands and waters we occupy.
Imprimer maintenant – arts, écologies et communautés traces the history of L’imprimerie’s ecological transition, our current position, our shared values, and the reflective framework that guides our actions as a center for print and photographic arts production.
This position is rooted in internal reflections and discussions with our counterparts, fueled by the Chantier, a research project on eco-responsible artistic practices carried out between 2020 and 2023. It is accompanied by a timeline illustrating the stages, advances, and challenges of this profound transformation from the founding of Atelier Graff to its merger with Le Cabinet, a photographic production space. To further this approach, a poster presenting the life cycle of a work of art offers a concrete tool for raising awareness of eco-design, inviting our peers to analyze each stage of creation. Finally, a glossary brings together a common vocabulary around eco-sensitive arts and practices.
