Imprimer maintenant – arts, écologies et communautés
The publication Imprimer maintenant – arts, écologies et communautés affirms L’imprimerie, centre d’artistes commitment to eco-sensitive and solidarity-based practices. It opens a collective space for reflection on artistic practice in the context of climate emergency and on ways of reimagining artistic production.
Composed of a series of zines, the project traces the organization’s history of ecological transition, our current stance, our shared values, and the reflective framework that guides our actions as a print and photographic arts production centre.
This position is grounded in internal reflections and exchanges with our peers, informed by the Chantier de recherche sur les pratiques artistiques écoresponsables carried out between 2020 and 2023. It is accompanied by a timeline illustrating the stages, progress, and challenges of this profound transformation, from the founding of Atelier Graff to its merger with Le Cabinet, a photographic production space. To extend this approach, a poster presenting the life cycle of a work offers a concrete tool for raising awareness about eco-design, inviting our peers to examine each stage of creation. Finally, a glossary brings together a shared vocabulary around eco-sensitive arts and practices.
The publication Imprimer maintenant – arts, écologies et communautés is intended specifically for artist-run centers and shared studios that, through their artistic mission, commitment, and vision, contribute to building a better world. It was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal and the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, to whom we extend our warmest thanks.
Thank you to those who explore, experiment, and share, demonstrating how art is political and a driver of collective transformation.
