Sabina Rak’s Love Story

Giving to L’imprimerie today is a simple and direct manner of supporting our local creative spirits of all backgrounds by giving them an exceptional space in which to work and experiment.

I Love L’imprimerie is an emotional propaganda campaign. With great tenderness and kindness, we solicit love letters from our faithful members. This initiative aims to cultivate the love of our community and collect donations to continue to offer professional quality services. Whether through the development of original artistic projects in residence or the accompaniment of artists through workshops and training, all the practices of print and photography are supported by the center.

This month, Sabina Rak shares her love story with L’imprimerie. Through her practice, Sabina is interested in the intersection between art and science to tell stories that feed her imagination and invade her with wonder. More specifically, her interest lies in the communication of science as a subject: to put contemporary art at the service of the popularization of science and at the same time allow art to draw new sources of discourse. She works with printed art and drawing by experimenting with repetition, pattern, size of the artworks, textures and technology. We are all the more pleased to share with you his expression of affection for the centre.

“At L’imprimerie, the artist member is any person engaged in a process of creation whose work follows the natural course of the artist’s life. There, art is understood in the way the artist expresses it. This democratic view of creation is perfectly aligned with my way of seeing and producing.

My creative process often takes shape in moments of solitude. But my solitude ends where the production process begins. And my place for production is L’imprimerie. There, I am welcomed as I am in these moments of gestation: totally in my bubble and rarely in sharing mode.

Despite this, at L’imprimerie I’ve had the chance to come across other artists whose views diverge from mine; to meet people from creative backgrounds less familiar to me and whose passions stem from fonts I had no knowledge of. And all this stays with me when I return in my solitude: these encounters allow me to see further than my own reality.

But in this period of economic and health-related upheaval, I decided to do more, because I would love for the center to continue to exist and function at full capacity without compromising the work of its artist members.

Since the start of the pandemic, several voices have come forth and stated that our communities’ creativity is an indicator of the health and survival of a society. Giving to L’imprimerie today is a simple and direct manner of supporting our local creative spirits of all backgrounds by giving them an exceptional space in which to work and experiment. “
