Katya Konioukhova

September 2025 – December 2025

Katya Konioukhova is a queer Montreal photographer born in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. She began practicing photography while studying graphic design at UQAM. While working on various projects for the program, she realized that what interested her most in her practice was the documentary and intimate aspect of the image. Her work explores memory and nostalgia through the collection of testimonials and the use of family archives. In her artist’s book dedicated to Rymma, her maternal grandmother, she addresses the strong bond between them despite the distance that separates them. Katya also experiments with alternative processes such as photograms, embossing on a press, cyanotypes, and monotypes.
